Chain Letter Emails
Do Funny Chain Emails Bless or Curse?
Chain letter emails can be annoying. They used to come to us in the mail without a return address; now we get them by email. Although they contain seemingly blessings or luck that you will receive for performing a certain "call-to-action," many chain letters are not meant for the good of people. I don't believe in them or participate in them. Reason being is because they contain curses. A curse is the opposite of a blessing. I can write a whole different article on curses and how they are used. Most people are not aware of them because of how they are disguised and made to look cute. Some people like to send funny chain emails but who has this kind of time?
I am not saying the people who send chain letter emails mean you harm, because most times we get these letters from people who genuinely love us and they would not purposely or knowingly do anything to harm us. What I mean is the email has a statement in it which says something to the effect of ". . . if you don't you will have bad luck." Statements like that pronounce curses instead of blessings. How? By causing the reader to fear if they don't do something, something will happen or something good might not happen and they do something unnecessary. The Bible tells us anything not based on faith is sin.
God doesn't work that way. He only requires us to read His word and live by it and to discard anything that goes contrary. Some people only read chain letters for fun. That's where funny email chain letters come in. I wanted to share this for the benefit of people who may not be aware of what an email chain letter is.
There really is power of life or death in the tongue. We can speak whatever we want into our lives. I learned that almost everything that happens to us is a result of:
1. what we have said;
2. what we have allowed to be said to us;
3. and/or what we did not speak against.
Words, your own words, really are powerful. It has been said that action speaks louder than words. Not in every case. Words are very powerful. If you tell a little girl all her life that she is cute, she will believe it and act accordingly. Why? Because she's heard it all her life. Faith comes by hearing over and over again. Written or spoken. We even hear when we read; if not our own voice some other voice, internally. Think about it. You are hearing the words you are reading right now; not audibly, but internally.
Proverbs 4:23 warns us to be careful how we think because our lives are shaped by our thoughts. We also hear our thoughts.
