“ If You’ve Got The Time, I’ve Got The Money” |
Are you running short of funds and time? Never seem to be enough hours in the day to do all that we have to do in today
’s busy times? Many of us are busy profiting nothing and as busy as some of us are we should be rich. But no matter how busy we are there is one thing that we cannot afford to leave out of our schedules, and that is our private time with God. Matthew 6:33 tells us “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto us.” Seeking God’s Kingdom first means seeking WHAT God wants you to do WHEN God wants you to do and HOW God wants you to do it. It means consider Him first when planning your busy days and He will orchestrate the remainder of your schedule. As you begin to spend private devotional time in Him, he sees your needs and desires and provides them even without you asking. As you are seeking God first, he is adjusting your schedule saving you time and money. If your schedule is so busy that you don’t have time to attend to personal affairs i.e. grocery shop, pay bills, clean house, cook dinner, rest properly, have a life, this is a sign that re-adjustment is necessary. It is poor stewardship to consistently leave personal affairs unattended and these kinds of things can cost us financially in the long run.
We can be really busy, but is what we are busy at really worth our time? Is it part of God’s plan for us? What is actually necessary to do? What time wasters can we eliminate? Do the things in your schedule contribute to your personal mission for God? What is the most valuable use for your time right now? These are questions we must ask ourselves during our devotional time with the Lord. Sometimes we can be doing the right things at the wrong time and that goes for ministry and other good works as well. We’ve heard it said many times before, “It’s okay to say No.” And it really is. But have we tried it?
Planning a productive schedule involves prioritizing and balancing the responsibilities that God has given you. Make a list of all your current responsibilities. Decide which of those responsibilities you can let go. Then develop a plan of action of how to carryout the remaining tasks. Never accept more responsibility than you can reasonably handle. We are most productive when we are operating on God’s time.
